Turtle Tour Package
The Olive Ridley Turtles arrive year around at Ostional but the “arribadas” phenomenon, the impacting arrivals of hundreds of turtles per night, can be observed with us from June to December.
Live this unique experience in Ostional National Wildlife Refuge, only 7km north from Playa Guiones and the setting of the Olive Ridley Sea Turtle’s nesting and hatching phenomenon.
Sea Turtle Nesting Tour
Departing from the hotel, take a 30 minute drive in a luxury van crossing rivers to Ostional National Wildlife Reserve in Ostional Beach. After a brief presentation by your Nature Guide and only 100 meters away from the National Wildlife Refuge station you will have the most amazing scenery on the world: thousands of Olive Ridley Sea Turtle’s nesting in this Costa Rican beach. A quick ride back will have you at Harmony once again just in time for dinner.
Duration: 4 hours, from 5 pm to 9 pm.
Sea Turtle Hatching Tour
The tour starts with a 30 minute drive in a luxury van and the unique nature sounds produced by the Congo Monkeys, different types of birds and the Nosara and Ostional Rivers, which add adrenaline to the experience. After a brief presentation by your Nature Guide you will go on to observe baby turtles hatch and fight their way into the ocean. A quick ride back will have you at Harmony once again just in time for a late breakfast.
Duration: 4 hours, from 5 am to 9 am.
What to Bring
Water, long pants and shoes or sandals that you don’t mind getting wet. Rain gear is recommended during the rainy season. You will be supplied a special flashlight that does not disturb the turtles at night. Don’t forget sunscreen for the hatching tour and insect repellent for night tours.
